Accidentally Heterosexual

Kay was not expecting to "settle down" by her late 20s. The thought of a domestic life with a house, a car, and talk of kids on the horizon seemed about as far away as possible from the exciting queer escapades she first pictured when she came out as trans in 2019. Yet nearing her 30s, every morning she finds herself preparing lunch for her partner, as he heads off to his bread-winning 9-5, wondering just how she ended up playing the role of housewife, and what ever happened to the self-styled radical feminist ready to take on the world?

In this heartfelt transgender comedy special about love, Kay explores what it means to become yourself in a relationship with someone else and how much control we really have over what we feel in our hearts. Do we really get to decide who we are? Or is the blueprint already laid out ahead of us, waiting to be uncovered as you grow in life with someone special to you?

A fast-rising star in the Vancouver stand-up community with the #1 most sold show at the 2025 Just for Laughs festival, Kay brings her distinct style of layered storytelling to the forefront in her debut comedy special. In her most intimate material yet, she invites audiences new and old to meet the person behind the comedian, as she reflects on how her family, her culture, and most of all, her boyfriend have helped her proudly become who she is today.
