Gay Widow's Association launches with comedy show
Widower of celebrity chef Nathan Fong launches Gay Widow’s Association of Canada
Vancover, BC – Widower of celebrity chef Nathan Fong, Michel Chicoine has launched Gay Widow’s Association of Canada to help LGBTQ+ widows with loss and grief.
“Losing Nathan was one of the most difficult life events I have ever had to face, in the midst of a very difficult time I found very few resources for LGBTQ widows like me,” Michel Chicoine, founder and executive director of Gay Widow’s Association of Canada said. “I wanted to create a venue through with gay widows like myself could connect to each other and create a community to combat loneliness and share resources.”
Nathan Fong, an award-winning food stylist, media personality, chef for the British Columbia government and advocate for the gay community, died on March 30 2020. He was 61. “Nathan was a huge advocate for the LGBTQ community, as he worked as an HIV advocate and held a yearly gala for the Dr. Peter AIDS foundation” Michel Chicoine said, “I am glad that I can do my part to help others in need and carry on his memory in some small way.”
The Gay Widows Association of Canada will be having an event on Saturday June 10 th at Diced Discovery to celebrate the launch featuring comedian and fellow gay widower Aidan Park (Comedy Central, Laugh Factory), social media celebrity Mario Adrion, and local drag star Carlotta Gurl.
