Gender Expression through Film - Community Screening & Talkback

On January 27th at the Moberly Arts Center, we will be presenting “Gender Is,” a short film made by a few incredibly talented local high schoolers.

The film follows a young girl shortly after being misgendered by a pair of teens; leading her (with the help of a friend) to begin questioning and exploring the concept of “gender” and how it impacts us.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with the filmmakers, moderated by two local queer community members; Ben Callins (voice actor) and Mily Mumford (drag performer, filmmaker, and actor).

Our goal with this screening is not only to empower the young filmmakers behind the film but also to connect them with the already thriving queer film community— something they might not typically be able to access as young people in a safe environment. We also hope to inspire young audience members to create their own self-expression through the arts.

Tickets are currently priced at $10 with the option to contact us for assistance if the purchase is a barrier to attendance.
