Our Top Picks For 2020 Queer Holiday Movies This Christmas

2020 has been a tough year for everyone, but the holiday entertainment just got more queer with a bigger line-up for queer content. The big holiday is just so close and we know you want to binge on your favourite movies for all that queer romance, cuteness and juicy drama. We do too, and we'll show you our top picks for queer movies this holiday. Please note that explicit scenes and languages will be found in this article.

The Christmas House

The Christmas House makes itself a controversial production from the Hallmark Channel, featuring the first-ever gay couple as main cast in the movie. Backlash from the conservative public has not swayed this film's success. In fact, it gathered a larger support from the public supporting queer and LGBTQ+ representation. Jonathan Bennett, known for his role in the iconic Mean Girls movies, is very excited to take on the role as a gay person. In his interview with the Los Angeles Times, he was surprised to see a script that actually features two gay men falling in love in a holiday movie. Hallmark has greatly expanded its diverse content in an effort to reflect a more diverse audience in 2020. The Christmas House will bring a union, cozy family content:

"Working through some difficult decisions, Mitchell family matriarch Phylis and patriarch Bill, have summoned their two grown sons - TV star, Mike Mitchell and Brandon Mitchell - home for the holidays. It is their hope that bringing the family together to recreate the Christmas house, will help them find resolution and make a memorable holiday for the entire family and community. As Brandon and his husband Jake make the trip home, they are anxiously awaiting a call about the adoption of their first child. Meanwhile, Mike reconnects with Andi, his high school sweetheart."

Two Of Us

Two Of Us is a story looking into older queer woman love in the modern world. It is an unexpected love that the two retired woman Nina and Madeline have found in their lives after retirement. The path to their hearts and love is an arduous journey, but also an endless adventure filled with passion and devotion. Two Of us is dazzled with 100% score on Rotten Tomato. One critic, Roger Moore, praised:

"The film's brevity means some ideas are under-developed. But what we're left with is a sublime and sublimely simple portrait of a love that's been lived in and the devotion it will take to ensure that endures."
