Pride Season 2021 with HIM July 8-Aug 12

From the website @ https://checkhimout.ca/pride2021/

Welcome to Pride Season with HIM!

With social distancing protocols in place due to COVID-19, Pride season sure looks different this year! In response to the major gap where we would have typically come together in-person to celebrate, connect and show our Pride in all it’s glory, for the second year in a row, HIM is focusing on hosting peers from within our communities and holding space to amplify their voices, experiences and identities.

Between July and September, Pride Season with HIM will hold a series of virtual events with notable and new personalities who are stepping up to share their stories, their lives and themselves. From 2-Spirit Indigenous leaders, to Drag Queens, Sex Workers, Elders, Youth, QTBIPOC and those who are not-quite-out! Check out our event line-up below and register to attend!

Some events listed below but visit the website for ongoing updates and information:

TWO-SPIRIT OF PRIDE

THURSDAY JULY 15TH AT 6:30PM

This Pride, we are excited to have an opportunity to hear about Two Spirit experiences and identities from Indigenous Poet and Author Joshua Whitehead. Learn about the resiliency and joy that Two-Spirit folks are finding today by reclaiming a concept and role that colonization tried to erase.

BEYOND THE BINARY

THURSDAY JULY 22ND AT 6:30PM

This Pride, reject respectability politics and let your freak flag fly! Join HIM for an entertaining night of storytelling and exploration of intimacy, gender, and kink beyond the binary in a panel discussion by-and-for trans, gender diverse, and Two-Spirit communities.

SPILL THE TEA

THURSDAY JULY 29TH AT 6:30PM

A fun and engaging opportunity to learn more about safer substance use and harm reduction methods with fabulous community-focused Queens talking about the options provided with HIM and in the community! Stigma creates barriers to health and wellness, so let’s break them down and learn how to minimize harm and protect ourselves and our communities.

WHAT COLOUR IS QUEER?

THURSDAY AUGUST 5TH AT 6:30PM

A dynamic panel discussion with notable Queer Asian community leaders about their personal stories and activism work. Through conversations, we unpack how the intersectionality of the panelists’ identities impacts the way they navigate Vancouver as a queer person from Asian communities.

GENERATIONS OF PRIDE

THURSDAY AUGUST 12TH AT 6:30PM

A panel discussion event where we explore Queer health, culture, sexuality and identity and Pride through the ages. Pride facilitators and advocates from across the province share stories, and experiences to support our communities coming together to understand our history, our present, and our future!
