Space Queen - Victoria BC

Space Queen is a one-person sci-fi drag musical created and performed by queer artist Aaron Nickol (aka Shelita Cox) and produced by Drag Sunday Productions. Blending original synth-based music, spoken word, and theatrical performance, the show imagines a distant future where queer stories have been erased—and one performer dares to bring them back.

Through live vocals, narrative world-building, and embodied resistance, Space Queen explores queer survival, ancestral memory, and the radical power of claiming space.

Ideal for audiences drawn to queer theatre, drag artistry, futurist performance, and LGBTQ+ storytelling, this is a musical about what it means to remember—and what happens when the erased return to speak.

No latecomers after the show begins.

About the Artist

Shelita Cox is a powerhouse of the Victoria, BC drag scene and the creative force behind Drag Sunday Productions. With over eight years of experience producing high-impact, high-glamour shows, she has become a pillar of the local queer arts community: uplifting fellow performers, mentoring emerging talent, creating spaces that push the definition of drag as entertainment, and is celebrated as a vehicle for community-building and cultural celebration.

A proud Indigenous performer with roots in the Kwak’wala-speaking peoples of the ‘Namgis First Nation, Shelita brings her whole self to the stage. She is an active seamstress, costume designer, and visual storyteller: crafting every look she wears by hand. Her dedication to self-made drag showcases her skill not just as a performer but as a creator.

Shelita’s creativity extends far beyond the lip sync. She is also a writer and showrunner, having scripted and starred in original theatrical productions like Drag Through Time, a drag cabaret play blending humor, history, and high camp. She has performed as an opener and emcee for over a dozen RuPaul’s Drag Race queens, holding her own with wit, warmth, and undeniable stage presence.

Currently, Shelita is developing her first one-person show, an ambitious project that weaves together storytelling, original music, and drag performance to reflect her lived experiences and artistic vision. Whether she’s hosting cult-classic drag theatre, sewing until sunrise, or crafting the next unforgettable moment, Shelita Cox continues to redefine what it means to be a drag artist, community leader, and creative entrepreneur.
