Vancouver Pride Society's Time Capsule preserves LGBTQAI2S+ Experiences
Vancouver Pride Society (VPS) has officially launched an exciting new initiative: Preserving LGBTQAI2S+ Experiences! VPS are creating a time capsule that will aim to help preserve LGBTQAI2S+ experiences throughout the past year.
Queer history is erased far too often, and they want to ensure that the lives and stories of queer people living through this pandemic time are preserved. Want to submit? VPS want to hear from you! VPS VPSlcome writing, art, small objects - or anything else you may feel represents your experience during this time!
VPS are interested in hearing from LGBTQAI2S+ identifying folks of all ages, currently living in the LoVPSr Mainland. Materials that are submitted should focus on individuals and daily life, over the the time period of March 2020 to March 2021
VPS encourage folks to submit both a written item and an image item (but you can submit just one if you would prefer). If you would like to submit a small object, please contact us with details on the size, materials used, and description of the object so that VPS can confirm its suitability.
VPS will store the time capsule with an anticipated reveal date of summer 2046 (25 years).
Folks are encouraged to submit their name, email and address along with their submission items.
Items submitted may be shared by VPS as part of future LGBTQAI2S+ archives/history displays, events, and with the City of Vancouver archives in the future.
Note that VPS are looking to capture a snapshot of what daily life is like right now, by hearing from individuals about their personal realities, routines, habits and activities. VPS are not taking submissions based on events, companies, organizations or other themes for this project.
