Vancouver Queer Film Festival (VQFF) - September 11-22, 2024

The Vancouver Queer Film Festival (VQFF) returns for its 36th year, showcasing 97 films from 25 countries. This year's lineup includes 28 features, 5 series debuts, 64 short films, and multiple premieres. The festival features a diverse range of 2SLGBTQIA+ stories and includes parties, performances, filmmaker Q&As, and industry events. Select films will be available for online streaming in BC.

Opening Presentation: "Closer" features short films, including the Canadian premiere of "GOOD BOY" and the romantic comedy "GREAT CANYON." The screenings and opening night party will take place at the Vancouver Playhouse.

Closing Presentation: "LAYLA," a feature about a Palestinian drag queen, will conclude the festival, with the closing night party at The Birdhouse.

Special Presentations: The world premiere of "NOVELETTE IS TRYING," a Vancouver Black queer web series, and notable features like "BULLETPROOF: A LESBIAN’S GUIDE TO SURVIVING THE PLOT" and "YOUNG HEARTS" are highlights.

The festival also includes the Curated Shorts Program: T4T, showcasing trans and non-binary storytellers. The homegrown talent showcase "The Coast is Queer" will return with a full lineup announcement.

VQFF continues its partnership with RBC Royal Bank and introduces new collaborations with the Vancouver Latin American Film Festival and The Cinematheque. This year's program includes free youth events to increase access to 2SLGBTQIA+ stories.
