Wrenched: The Renovation Musical At The Vancouver Fringe Festival

In this fast-paced musical comedy, the cracks in Larry and Twyla Young’s seemingly perfect marriage start to show when the installation of a new mailbox snowballs into an epic renovation. Larry, a failed inventor and stay-at-home dad, is seduced into an elaborate remodelling of their modest house. All Twyla wants is their cozy cottage to come home to at the end of a stressful workday.

Navigating inept workers, siren neighbours, zoning bylaws, and George the contractor, the Young’s relationship is wrenched apart. Meanwhile, Larry flounders in parenting their twenty-something son, Greg, who lives on social media, barely ever speaks aloud, and is falling in love with the only competent worker on the renovation.

Featuring a blues-singing toilet and workers dancing their way through a path of destruction, Wrenched is spirited from beginning to end. Ultimately, Larry exposes a nefarious secret, saves the neighbourhood, and becomes the local hero. What really matters in life? It’s the company we keep.

A skilled creative team, including a cast of talented singers/actors, brings WRENCHED to life and offers the audience songs to hum as they leave the theatre.
