Applications Now Open for Vancouver Fringe Festival

A big hello from Vancouver Fringe

With our sights set on next year’s returning Festival (Sep 7 – 17), we’ve been eagle-eyeing some of the brilliant theatre companies BC has to offer and wanted to take a moment to reach out and raise awareness of the opportunity to participate in our upcoming 2023 Festival Lottery.

It’s a brand-new era for us at the Fringe and welcoming an array of fresh acts only adds to our excitement. We’d be thrilled to host you as part of our 2023 Festival – set to take over Vancouver’s iconic Granville Island once again – should you be among this year’s lucky Festival selections.

Applications for our Fringe Lottery open Dec 9 2022  (12pm PST) and will close Jan 13 2023 (11:59am PST).

So how does it work exactly?

Any interested parties who submit an application (open until Jan 13) are thrown into a hat, with selections being made shortly after at our annual Lottery Event (Feb 9). The schedule is then built around all artists who confirm, with Vancouver Fringe supporting the tech, marketing & box office required to draw in a crowd.

We particularly welcome and encourage artists from IBPOC backgrounds, with 50% of lottery slots in each category being pulled from those who self-identify as Indigenous, Black or any other racialized community.

10 subsidy spaces which reduce participation fees to $100 are also available to artists who self-identify their economic or accessibility needs, helping to ensure that all involved have equal opportunity to participate.

Interested?

If you think you have a suitable show in the pipeline (whether that’s in-person or online) and would like a shot at joining us, simply drop in an application using our artist submission platform, Eventotron.
