Vancouver, BC – Carousel Theatre for Young People (CTYP) is pleased to announce its west coast premiere production of the circus-themed Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, a heartwarming play about gender identity coming to the Waterfront Theatre on Granville Island from March 31 to April 23.

Written by Dave Deveau and directed by Jennica Grienke, CTYP’s new Co-Artistic & Managing Directors, Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls is their first piece of artistic programming as part of the organization’s commitment to telling inclusive stories with diverse themes for young audiences.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls is a joyful tale told from the vivid imagination of a 9-year-old who is assigned female at birth and named Fiona as he comes out as a boy called Fin. Through circus acts and mermaids, we move through his playful experiences and memories as his family begins to understand Fin's gender identity. From there, we witness Fin embracing his true self for the very first time.

In the role of Fin is Vancouver non-binary drag icon Rae Takei aka Rose Butch (CBC’s Canada’s A Drag). 

Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls is CTYP’s second show of the year with Green Thumb Theatre’s The Code closing out their 2021/22 Season.
