What is the Day of Pink?
The Day of Pink is an International day which calls on all of us to stand in opposition to anti-2SLGBTQIA+ bullying. With the marked rise in homophobia and transphobia globally, and with the passage of laws specifically aimed at marginalizing queer and trans youth much closer to home, now more than ever before is the time for us to stand together.
What is Out In Schools?
Out In Schools is an award-winning education program which brings 2SLGBTQIA+ films and facilitators to schools and communities throughout BC. Through 90-minute presentations which integrate short films centring the lived experiences of queer, trans, and Two-Spirit people with facilitated discussions, youth, educators, parents, and other community members learn to embrace the diversity and beauty of 2SLGBTQIA+ people and our lives.
For nearly 20 years, Out In Schools has worked closely with the BC education system at all levels, from grassroots student-led Gender-Sexuality Alliances, to educators and SOGI district leads, to district and ministry administrators. We work across the system as well, engaging with youth, educators, and parents through a holistic approach that serves to create safer, more inclusive communities for all youth.
