EMPLOYMENT SUPPORT
✓ Skilled Trades Employment Program (STEP) - BC Construction Association's Skilled Trades Employment Program www.stepbc.ca. A provincially funded employment program that assists job seekers with accessing apprenticeship opportunities in construction trades. Focused on supporting equity-deserving groups, including women, members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, new immigrants, racialized persons, Indigenous peoples, and young adults at risk. Goals include to increase the representation of 2SLGBTQIA+ workers in BC's construction industry.
✓ Q+ Works, is a Skills Training for Employment program for 2SLGBTQIA+ Young Adults ages 16-29 through Douglas College’s New Westminster campus. Q+ Works has zero cost to attend and is specifically designed for multi-barriered, 2SLGBTQIA+, young adults (ages 16-29). Our goal is to connect 2SLGBTQIA+ young adults with employers who celebrate Diversity and foster belonging, as well as to empower them to pursue further education that aligns with their long-term goals.
✓ The PRISM Employment Support Service (ESS) is a strengths-based, trauma-informed employment support program for 2SLGBTQIA+ adults living in BC. Prism ESS is a partnership program between QMUNITY and YWCA Metro Vancouver. Available for Canadian citizens, protected refugees, or permanent residents living in BC who identifiy as 2SLGBTQIA+. https://qmunity.ca/employment/
✓ The Inclusive Employers Hiring Hub (The HUB) helps employers hire persons with disabilities. Free training for Employers to learn how to integrate Persons with Disabilities into the workplace. https://inclusiveemployers.ca/
✓ QWORKS is a FREE 20-week Skills Training for Employment Program, assisting members of British Columbia’s 2SLGBTQIA+ community who face multiple barriers to find sustainable employment.
The QWORKS Program is delivered in a hybrid model combining live online classes with self-paced learning, and features content specifically tailored to the experiences and needs of 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals. QWORKS also includes one-on-one coaching, including referrals to personal supports, employment placements, and on-the-job training.

ROOM MAGAZINE
Room magazine is seeking to hire a new Managing Editor. The ideal candidate will have previous work experience in literary, grassroots, scholarly, or academic magazine or book publishing, especially in the selection of material for publication and with knowledge of Canadian literature. Working creatively as part of a small team, the Managing Editor manages all editorial and production aspects of the magazine, which is published four times a year. (Deadline Oct 11). Learn more here
