Morag You’re a Long Time Deid - June 10-19

Morag You’re a Long Time Deid, follows the story of Sam (Claire Love Wilson), who inherits her grandmother Morag's piano and uncovers a cryptic love letter made from lyrics of old Scottish ballads.

Compelled by the intimate correspondence and the silence surrounding Morag's death, Sam imagines a secret queer romance and begins transforming her ancestral songs.

In the process, she discovers a voice of her own. This new experimental musical warps, disrupts, and reconfigures traditional Scottish storytelling, ballad singing and participatory community dance.

Reimagining ceilidh theatre from a queer perspective, original compositions are playfully interwoven with electronic loops and interactive dancing to tell old stories anew.

Additional Notes:

The story of MYLTD tells a personal queer unfolding and empowerment through the lens of musical heritage. What if you do not fit into the prescribed categories on which our society and therefore our minds are based? What if you do not feel represented by the tales, songs and dances that have been passed down to you? Maybe because the stories that you identify with have been silenced and you see color where others only see black and white. MYLTD invites you to discover what you can hear once you listen to a silence.
