Book Launch - Queer Lessons by Alan Segal
Queer Lessons by Alan Segal
Even in societies with legal and social assurances for human rights in North America and other locations in the world, support for a spectrum of sexualities and genders exploration and insight are not guaranteed.
Based on interviews with self-identified LGBTQ people in North America and some European countries, Queer Lessons is a book about creating societies.
About how social and political environments may influence our lives and accelerate or hinder queer awareness and action.
Everyone interviewed was between 16 and 23. Their discussions about influence, identity, and the power of a social institution like the school to impact their lives, bring to the foreground the velocity of normative expectations, conformity, and the possibility of social and personal change.
