Le Centre culturel francophone de Vancouver is very pleased to present the Québecoise singer-songwriter-composer Safia Nolin for her première Vancouver performance. Safia Nolin invites us into her intimate and subdued atmosphere, cradled in candlelight.
With her moody folk songs, Safia Nolin has won over critics and fans from the beginning. Safia Nolin is a headliner for numerous festivals, including the Montreal Francofolies. In addition to bridging the gap between the francophone music scene and the anglo-Canadian artistic realm, she has charmed the French with her performance as opener for Lou Doillon and Pomme. This very engaged artist is also the spokesperson for Lesbian Visibility Day (Journée de la visibilité lesbienne) in Montreal, and she recently shaved her head for the “Shaved Head Challenge” (“Défi têtes rasées”) to raise money for LEUCAN.
On December 16, 2021, Safia Nolin released a new EP entitled SEUM. Safia offers us abrasive indie rock songs and minimalist folk pieces in harmonious cohabitation. In the fall of 2021, right after the release of this new EP, Safia had started a tour in Québec that was supposed to be continued in April 2022, after an interruption imposed by the pandemic. So this is her first opportunity to come out to meet Vancouver audiences and enjoy the delights of our springtime after such a harsh winter in Québec at the start of 2022.
