No Straight Lines

looks at this world from an LGBTQ perspective and introduces us to Alison Bechdel, Jennifer Camper, Howard Cruse, Rupert Kinnard and Mary Wings and these artists have something to say and often in a very comical way. The underground comic book movement with artists like Robert Crumb (Fritz the Cat) got their start in the 1960s. It wasn’t until 1973 that the first gay themed comic book came out by a queer artist, Mary Wings. Queer comic books helped make gay lives visible and find a way towards selfacceptance. No Straight Lines celebrates the genre in this funny and insightful telling of LGBTQ history.

Venue: Blue Bridge Theatre

Screening Date (s): February 09 9:00pm
