Chosen Family Day

Periodt: Black Queer Poetry Slam
Poetry and storytelling is a conduit for inter-generational healing, but intergenerational joy as well. In commemoration of Black history month, we amplify, celebrate and illuminate the unique intersections that Black-Indigi-Queer folks bring to the community. Our legacies can never be erased as we bear witness to them together. Periodt: Black Queer Poetry Slam will bring Black queer poets to the stage, including a performance by poet and activist Staceyann Chin.
Participating poets must identify as Black and be a part of the 2SLGBTQAI+ community. This slam will have three, three-minute rounds. A draw will be held to choose 10 poets from the sign-up sheet. Sign-ups are required before the day of the event through the ticketing link, which allows for 20 free sign-up spots. The first-place winner will receive $200, the second-place will receive $150 and the third-place winner will receive $100.
Comedy Here Often?
Have a laugh with Comedy Here Often? at the Vancouver Winter Pride Festival! Join us for a double-feature show with a lineup of the city’s most talented queer comedians.
VanPride Learning Series
The Learning Series is a multidisciplinary initiative that strives to create a platform that uplifts, inspires, and reconnects individuals of the 2SLGBTQIA+ Community. In theory, it is an in-depth look at stories from equity-deserving groups that will showcase their Queer lived experience with Mental Health through video content and a live-streamed in-person panel.
Our in-person panel will be moderated by jaye simpson and the panel will consist of three influential speakers: Shetin Adams, Joey Laguio, and Jag Nagra. With this initiative, we hope to provide support, highlight resources, and establish lasting change within our 2SLGBTQIA+ Community.
