MISSION STATEMENT

To strengthen, inspire and entertain the 2SLGBTQIA+ Community of BC.

What’s On! Queer BC is a Vancouver-based online magazine and resources catalogue featuring queer stories, news, events and resources links important to people living in the BC Lower Mainland. These include resources and news of interest by and for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Two-spirit and Intersex communities in Metro Vancouver, The Sea to Sky and Fraser Valley as well as BC Islands and BC Interior.

We publish articles about virtual and digital events, performances, and happenings and culture of interest to the Queer community in the BC Lower Mainland. Please visit our Write For Us page if you’d like to submit.

What’s On Queer Partners with 2021 Out On Screen

What’s On Queer BC is an online magazine that shares community-driven resources, personal anecdotes, and astrology reports – basically everything queer’s need to get their day started. The magazine’s main draw however is their poster wall, a virtual bulletin board advertising events happening around the Lower Mainland, like the upcoming VQFF! The magazine began as a hobby project in 2015 for Founder Jude Goodwin (she/her) to promote queer events happening around BC. I had an opportunity to speak with Jude this month about the evolution of the magazine and the importance of community partnership.

SUPPORTER ARTICLES

These articles pay a small fee for publication on our site, and this fee helps keep What’s On Queer up and running. We are grateful to advertisers for their support. As editor, I do veto some articles and topics as inappropriate, and always offer to write the article for them if they are uncomfortable with 2SLGBTQIA+ topics and community. However, I personally love to ‘game’ and so I accept the casino articles. All supporter articles are published in the What’s On Queer Champions area near the footer.

We do not use Google Adsense. I prefer to curate my own banner ads, and I feel Google is not only a monopoly (which is never healthy) but also a bully (which is common with monopolies).
