8 LGBTQ2SI+ Books to look forward to this year

Happy New Year everyone! It is another year and I have a feeling that 2022 will be another good year for book lovers. I am excited that some of my favourite writers are releasing new books and I just can't wait to be transported to another reality where I can meet and fall in love with new characters in a book. Here are the most awaited Youth and Young Adult LGBTQ+ books of 2022.

THE TEMPERATURE OF ME AND YOU BY BRIAN ZEPKA

This is Brian’s debut novel and is expected to be released on January 25. This science fiction story is about a 16 year old Dylan in Philadelphia whose winter took a hot turn when Dylan came into his life. What secret is Dylan’s first love Jordan keeping? Will their love for each other be enough to keep them safe? I guess we will find out next Tuesday if this love story conquers it all or if it was too hot to handle.

GOLDEN BOYS BY PHIL STAMPER

Golden Boys is the latest book by Phil Stamper who is one of the best selling authors of queer books for kids and young adults. Golden Boys is the story of four amazing queer boys who are friends. They have a lot in common and live in a rural town but for the summer before their senior year they are each going on an exciting new adventure. How will these adventures on their own affect them and their friendship? The book is set to be released on February 8th.

A MILLION QUIET REVOLUTIONS BY ROBIN GOW

This book is expected to be released on 22nd March. The book is about two young trans men who, through their shared journey of being trans in a small town, end up falling in love. Unfortunately, they get separated from each other and end up seeking solace by learning more about America’s history. They came across the love story of two trans soldiers during the Revolutionary war and through the journey of paying tribute to these two soldiers they learn the importance of telling their own story.

IN THE KEY OF US BY MARIAMA J .LOCKINGTON

After losing her mother, 13 year old Andi is trying to process the loss when she is accepted to a music camp. There she meets Zora who is tired of trying to please her parents and wants to pursue her own dreams to dance. As the only two black girls at the camp, they connect and work to overcome their struggles together.

EVERY WORD YOU NEVER SAID BY JORDON GREENE

Set to be released on April 22 is a book about Jacob who is struggling with the relationship he has with his dad and Skylar who is hoping to start anew and make friends in his new school. These two end up having to fight homophobia, bullying, ableism and sexism together. Will this bring them closer and will love help them overcome the trauma ?

THE LESBIANA‘S GUIDE TO CATHOLIC SCHOOL

This is Reyes’ debut novel and is expected to be on the bookstore shelves by 17th May. Yamilet Flores is the new girl in a catholic school. She intends to hide the fact that she is gay and get a fresh start. She soon finds herself in a dilemma when she starts feeling attraction to Bo. How will she keep her secret ?

If you are a fan of Kdramas, you need to add this book to your ‘to read list ‘ immediately. The book tells the story of Hana who is a Kdrama lover. Hana lands a role in a new drama and she is all set to give the role what it requires from her and nothing more but one surprise throws her for a loop. How will she keep her position in the drama if she can't help but fall in love with the girl who plays her rival for the main love interest?

EPICALLY EARNEST BY MOLLY HORAN

This romance novel is inspired by one of Oscar Wilde’s classics, ‘The Importance of Being Earnest.’ This is the story of Jane who is a high school senior that is struggling with being her authentic self, what family really means and trying to find and understand her identity so she can pursue an epic life.
