Modern Industries With Equal Opportunities Employment
It's well-known that certain types of jobs are always linked to certain gender roles, usually just by historical convention or by common perception. Great strides are being made all the time across the world to fix the balance and open up, with some industries becoming more open than others. Here are some of the inclusive kinds of business out there today.
Hospitality
By every kind of metric and from every modern study being done, hospitality has the highest level of inclusivity and diversity. This includes everything from accommodation to restaurants and catering services, and in the case of one major UK study, the industry as a whole scored a perfect score across gender, age and disability balance, and was even recommended as an example for others.
While the reasons aren't crystal clear, this type of work is well-known for valuing ability over anything else, and the constant need for talent could force an open mind. More than this, hospitality has historically been more open to inclusive policies with male and female workers being common in every area. As inclusivity has increased in general, it's possible that hospitality just had a better starting point.
Online Casinos
At the other end of the modern scale, the online casino industry is one of the newest major players around. Distinct from traditional casinos, the online versions have only taken off in the last couple of decades, and ways to try virtual gambling or play roulette online have only existed a little longer than that at all. The relative recency of the business, however, means that it was started within the right environment.
Most online casinos started at a time when inclusivity and diversity were also becoming key aspects of running a business, and so most were able to avoid many of the conventions and hangups that other employers would have. It's also a case where many specific talents are required so in the same way as hospitality, talent often overrides anything else. This is true of all the job roles available from customer support to design and development.
To find a job in the online casino industry, you can follow these steps:
Research Companies: Look for reputable online casino companies. Visit their career pages.
Job Boards: Use job boards like Indeed, LinkedIn, and Glassdoor. Search for roles related to online casinos.
Networking: Join industry-specific groups on LinkedIn and other platforms. Engage with professionals.
Skills Development: Gain relevant skills in areas like customer support, web design, software development, and digital marketing.
Apply: Tailor your resume and cover letter to highlight relevant experience and skills. Apply through the company's website or job boards.
Real Estate
Compared to the other two entries, the reason for real estate being rated so highly for inclusivity is a little less clear. Historically, real estate has been a male-dominated field and this is an attitude that has only very recently begun to change. The difference may lie in how the industry is structured, as more than other career paths, being a real estate agent is a real meritocracy.
While most real estate agent roles do come with a base level of salary, the big money to be made is on commissions. Selling houses is a very competitive activity as closing a single deal could be worth hundreds of thousands. It is perhaps because of this competition that inclusivity is there. After all, results matter more than anything else in this kind of situation.
