Canadian 70 Million Lotto Max Winners Hid Their Win Jackpot

Have you ever considered your next action if you suddenly win $70 million? One day, you’re an average worker who earns a normal wage. The next day, you’re a multimillionaire after fate hands you a winning ticket.

Will you start a business, buy a car, or travel around the world to see some places you have always fantasized about? There is another option, though. A couple got a lottery ticket sold in Ontario, got lucky and won the life-changing lotto but took a more secretive option to protect themselves. They hid it from the public and extended family members. The question is, for how long?

Lottery wins have brought fortune to many Canadians, including those within the 2SLGBTQiA+ community. While there are no widely known cases linking specific winners to this community, winning the lottery can have unique implications for individuals who face societal challenges related to identity. For some, a sudden influx of wealth could offer an opportunity to support causes close to their hearts, such as 2SLGBTQiA+ advocacy, healthcare initiatives, or creating safe spaces. Others may choose to keep their wins private due to concerns about safety or discrimination. In any case, a lottery win has the potential to provide life-changing opportunities for individuals in every community.

Someone in Ontario, Toronto Just won $70 Million Dollars Jackpot

Luck is a careful picker. Sometimes, it picks those who least expect and rewards them more than their expectations. This is the case of one anonymous winner in Toronto, according to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp that share the news. This winning ticket was sold in Toronto and the person’s ticket had won from the maxmillions prizes about 70m CAD, but the winner didn’t claim their winnings.

There are a couple of reasons this has happened. One of the likeliest and closest reasons is that the winner was unaware they had been lucky. How could they have thought the ticket at a grocery store they bought for a few dollars had brought them such a fortune?

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) held the draw on a Friday. After the draw, their press releases said a Maxmillions ticket won about 70 million dollars. They further noted that the identity of the winners is yet to be known. However, the ticket was purchased in Toronto. The owners of winning numbers could simply claim their prizes at the OLG Prize Center.

After the draw in Toronto, The OLG said the second prize was worth $200,000. On the same day, 1 million worth of Lotto Max tickets were among the drawn results in the same province.

The Winning Lottery Ticket is Still Unclaimed

After declaring the ticket worth, OLG said the winner has yet to come out and claim their wins. The first assumption was that the winner didn’t know about their wins, and everyone expected them to show up to accept what was theirs. Since the ticket was drawn, the winner has not shown up, and no one has found a way to know the rightful winner. But there is a little information about the ticket and its expiration.

The winner bought the ticket on June 28, 2022, but they have the grace to claim it before it expires one year after the day it was drawn. This means the ticket expired in 2023 because the expiration date was one year after it was drawn.

Due to the high volume of lost ticket claims, OLG’s dedicated team of lottery investigators took the time necessary to thoroughly review each and every potential claim. Now that this process is complete, we can report that none of those claims were successful,” the OLG said.

The winner should have shown up to validate the ticket at the lottery Terminal at OLG during that time. The ticket remained unchecked at the self-service ticket, and no one logged into the OLG app to claim the win. Tony Bitonti, the OLG spokesperson, admitted it was the most significant unclaimed win in the history of the Lottery in Canada.

Like the lucky couple in question, many people prefer to participate in gambling activities anonymously. Thank goodness, we are in the 21st century where several online casinos give players full privacy to participate in Lotteries and other forms of Casino games. So, as casinocanada partners with Rollxo Casino to deliver a world-class gaming experience as noted by Aleksandra Drigo (Sales Rep at CasinoCanada), more lucky people like this couple are sure to emerge.

Winners of the Canadian $70 million Lotto Max lottery kept the prize secret from their families for two months

In a similar news, a couple had their big win and decided to stay silent. Enid and Doug Hannon won $70 million in the Lotto Max Jackpot. For the next two months, they kept the win a secret.

Enid and Doug were 51 years old when they became new multi-millionaires overnight after the February 20 draw. They held the news to themselves until a special winner celebration happened near where they lived.

Enid had purchased the ticket on a random day when she went to a grocery store. Then, Doug realized they had won big when he checked the OLG app after the draw.

Other winnings of 70 million or more

Dale McEwen was one of the biggest winners in 2022. He won a total of $70 million in Western Canada, one of the biggest Lotto wins in the area at the time. According to him, he bought the ticket while traveling with his family to Dunmore.

Another big winner was Marcel Lussier. She was an environmental engineer from Montreal South who came out to claim $70 million. When she talked to CityNews, she said one of her plans was to give back to her community by starting an autistic community.
